Consultations

How long is a first consultation?

Plan for a thorough, unhurried visit. Dr. Kirwan conducts the consultation personally, including the examination and the discussion of options.

Is there a consultation fee?

Sample answer. On a live site the practice would state its consultation fee and whether it is applied toward a surgical fee.

Can I consult virtually?

Video consultations are available for out-of-town patients. An in-person examination is still required before any surgery is scheduled.

Will I be pressured to book?

No. Nothing is scheduled at the first visit. You receive a written plan and are invited back for a second conversation once you have had time to think.

Candidacy and safety

How do I know if I am a good candidate?

Candidacy depends on your health history, anatomy, goals, and expectations. The consultation exists to answer this honestly, including when surgery is not recommended.

Where is surgery performed?

In the practice’s on-site, AAAASF-accredited surgical suite with a board-certified anesthesiologist. Sample facility details; verify before publication.

What are the risks?

Every operation carries risks such as bleeding, infection, scarring, asymmetry, and anesthesia-related complications. Procedure-specific risks are reviewed in detail and in writing before consent.

Do I need to stop smoking?

Yes. Nicotine in any form impairs healing. Most surgeons require cessation for several weeks before and after surgery.

Recovery

How long until I can return to work?

It varies by procedure and by the physical demands of your work. Typical ranges are discussed at consultation and written into your plan.

Will I have someone to call after hours?

Yes. Surgical patients receive a direct line to the practice during recovery. Sample policy; confirm on the live site.

When can I exercise again?

Light walking is encouraged early. Strenuous exercise generally waits several weeks and is cleared at a follow-up visit.

Results and expectations

How natural will the result look?

The goal is a result that looks like a rested version of you rather than a different person. Photographs and, where relevant, 3D simulation help set expectations.

How long do results last?

Surgical results are long-lasting but do not stop the aging process. Longevity depends on the procedure, genetics, sun exposure, and lifestyle.

Can I see before-and-after photographs?

Consented patient photographs are shown during consultation. This preview uses illustrative imagery only.

Fees and financing

Does insurance cover cosmetic surgery?

Elective cosmetic procedures are generally not covered. Some reconstructive procedures may be; the practice can help you understand what your insurer requires.

When do I receive a quote?

A written fee summary follows your consultation and covers surgeon, anesthesia, and facility fees so there are no surprises.

Is financing available?

Sample answer. See the patient financing page for how third-party options would be presented on a live site.
