Aesthetic concern
Localized fat.
Some pockets of fat simply resist diet and exercise. When your weight is stable but a stubborn area will not budge, contouring can refine the shape that effort alone cannot.

Overview
Shape, not weight.
Liposuction removes localized pockets of fat that stay put despite a healthy lifestyle, refining the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, and other areas. It is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss method, and works best on a stable, healthy body.
Dr. Kirwan often combines liposuction with skin-tightening or muscle-building treatments for a balanced, all-angles result, and can pair it with radiofrequency when mild skin laxity is present.

Questions
Common questions.
Will liposuction help me lose weight?
No. It contours localized, resistant areas once your weight is reasonably stable. It is not a treatment for obesity or visceral fat around the organs.
Will the fat come back?
The removed fat cells are gone, but remaining cells can enlarge if you gain significant weight. A stable weight keeps the result.
Surgical or non-surgical?
Liposuction gives the most definitive, single-session change. Device-based options suit smaller areas or patients who prefer no downtime, with more gradual results.
What about loose skin?
If skin quality is good it retracts well. Where there is laxity, adding radiofrequency tightening improves the final contour.
Next step
Refine what effort cannot.
A consultation identifies whether surgical or non-surgical contouring — or a combination — best suits the area and your skin.
