Dr. Laurence Kirwan is the most experienced surgeon in the area, and patients travel from across the country and around the globe to Kirwan Plastic Surgery in Norwalk, Connecticut, to benefit from his skill and expertise. Dr. Kirwan is proficient in advanced surgical techniques. These techniques are highly precise and minimize adverse effects associated with more invasive procedures traditionally performed by plastic surgeons. Our less invasive, precision approaches include the endoscopic brow lift.
Historically, the open brow lift has involved making larger incisions along the hairline, which are visible after healing. Such open, traditional techniques have been associated with a prolonged recovery period and an elevated risk of developing bruises, scars, and numbness. In general, more invasive procedures are associated with longer healing times and an increased risk of adverse side effects and complications.

Dr. Kirwan performs surgery with a long, thin, telescope-like tube or endoscope. This technique only requires small incisions. The endoscope is introduced through tiny openings around two centimeters (less than an inch) in length. These minimal incisions are also well-camouflaged behind the hairline. Incisions at the midline and planned arches can be repositioned, so they are optimally hidden behind the hair as it falls naturally or per your styling preferences. Additional incisions (about 4 centimeters or 1.5 inches in length) are made on each side of the head above the ear to access the outermost part of the eyebrows.
To further minimize the risk of follicular damage, hair loss, and visible incisions, Dr. Kirwan:
Through these incisions, Dr. Kirwan expertly adjusts the tissue and muscle beneath the skin to correct the underlying creases, furrows, and laxity sources. As another example of our advanced techniques and approaches, Dr. Kirwan’s endoscopic brow lift is further complemented by the Endotine® technique.
This approach helps to overcome the most challenging and least predictable aspect of brow/forehead procedures: soft tissue fixation. Here, we refer to the step where the soft tissues are secured to the bone. Proper fixation is critical to maintain the aesthetic results from your lift and to prevent sagging. Endotine® is a state-of-the-art device that gently lifts, tightens, and secures as desired. Over time, Endotine® is absorbed naturally and safely by the body. It presents a suture-free alternative to traditional fixation methods.
Additionally, Endotine® is associated with reduced surgical time, better results, and a reduced risk of follicle loss and fixation failures. The device’s unique design distributes tension to support a more stable tissue shape and reduce stress on the soft tissue (excessive stress is a risk factor for deformities, distortion, and failures). In general, our approaches support sustained, attractive results.
Endoscopy effectively elevates the brows, alleviating creases. However, we can get maximum results and enhance facial harmony by combining the brow lift with procedures like blepharoplasty. This treatment corrects drooping eyelids and excess skin to rejuvenate the eye region. We also support facial harmony, symmetry, and balance with a lower facelift, which focuses on the bottom third of your face. As needed, this dual treatment contours the jawline, chin, and neck to eliminate jowls, and excess folds and laxity. Our team may discuss options for complementary treatment with you.
