What can I expect during treatment?
As a non-surgical procedure, Kybella® is well-tolerated with the application of cooling or a numbing anesthetic. Are there any side effects?
All treatments carry with them the risk of side effects. When in the hands of a highly skilled and qualified surgeon like Dr. Kirwan, the risk of serious side effects and complications is minimized. Dr. Kirwan’s skill level also supports the most natural-looking and desirable results from treatment. With that being said, those undergoing treatment with Kybella® may experience mild redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, and changes in sensation. These effects are temporary and affect the sites where Kybella® was injected. Here again, Dr. Kirwan’s precision injection techniques ensure Kybella® is introduced only to those areas that could use the fat reduction the most.
Are the results from Kybella® permanent?
Targeted exercises and other weight loss interventions reduce the size of fat cells. They do not damage and destroy them. Kybella® is different. It actually damages and destroys the treated fat cells. When these cells are damaged in this way, they can no longer store or accumulate fat in the injection site areas. So, the results from treatment are considered to be long-lasting. It is important to understand that Kybella® is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle, a nutritious diet, and routine exercise.
