What happens during a consultation?
We cover a lot of ground! This visit largely includes a discussion about your goals for surgery, as well as any existing medical conditions, allergies, and medications and supplements that you may be taking. Dr. Kirwan also assesses your general health status and identifies potential risk factors that must be addressed/mitigated. From there, he takes a closer look at your areas of concern – what essentially brought you to our office in the first place. Measurements and photographs may be taken, and we can discuss treatment alternatives and other essentials about what to expect, such as potential risks, recovery needs, and outcomes.
What should I bring with me?
Other than your effervescent self, it is helpful to bring realistic expectations. Dr. Kirwan is a skilled, well-respected, internationally-recognized specialist; however, there are various factors specific to you and your lifestyle that can affect the durability of given treatments. We also encourage you to bring a sound and clear understanding of your goals and preferences. Of course, bring any questions with you, too. What can I expect after the consultation if I move forward with treatment?
The information that Dr. Kirwan collects about you is used to both prepare you for the most successful and safe treatment, as well as to support treatment planning and the specific techniques and approaches that may be used to predictably get the results that you desire. Those results must also fit and complement your personality and physical characteristics. Dr. Kirwan may advise on adjusting your current medications and herbal supplements to reduce the risk of potential side effects and complications, such as bleeding and bruising. Lab tests and additional medical evaluations may be required. We will review everything to expect with you well in advance of your procedure.
